Special Thanks to Kali Flewellen, Jr. Account Executive for She Carves

She Craves is our Group of the Month as this feature returns with a bang. We recently had the pleasure to interview She Craves back in March (link is below): http://www.juniorscave.com/index185.html

Now, as Music Now is returning a great feature back into our forum, we got a chance to catch up with She Craves to see what's new with the group.

Music Now: She Craves, you guys are our band of the month. Let our audience in on what is happening with you guys for the summer including tour dates and hot concerts.
She Craves: Our big news for this summer is that we'll be in the studio in June to record the rest of our full-length debut album. We're currently writing the songs that we'll be recording and hope to be releasing it in July. After that, we hit the road to support it.
Music Now: This sounds very exciting for the group.

Music Now: We have had a ton of great responses from your last interview with Junior's Cave--do you find feedback from your fans helpful?
She Craves: All of us really enjoy getting to meet our fans after shows and hang out with them and it's always interesting to hear what they have to say about our set and which songs they like the best. Plus with sites like Myspace being so popular at the moment, fans can interact with us by leaving us a comment or sending us a message. We respond to every message we get. We want our fans to know we're listening to them.

Music Now: How do you handle bad press about She Craves?
She Craves: Bad press?! Who said anything about bad press? We've been fortunate in that we've been well-received almost every where we've played so we really haven't had any bad press yet. I'm sure down the road some time we'll encounter some critics that won't get what we're doing, but for now, we're our own harshest critics. We know that we're the ones that are going to have to play our songs several nights a week while on tour so we when we're writing, we write songs that as a band, we're going to love playing night after night. Music fans are more perceptive than they get credit for and they can tell when a band is "phoning it in". We take pride in never being that kind of band.

Music Now: What do you want to tell other local bands who are trying to crave their own niches in the music industry?
She Craves: The hardest thing for a lot of young bands to grasp when they're just starting out is that you have to treat your band like it is a business. Be as artistic and creative as humanly possible while you're writing, recording, and performing, but approach every thing else like you're running a business. Hopefully one day down the road you'll have managers and agents handling all of that for you but early on, you can't ignore the business side of your band. If you do, you will get taken advantage of and there are plenty of people out there that will do that to you if you let them.
Music Now: Well spoken words my friends.

Music Now: Explain the whole creative concept of the name "She Craves".
She Craves: Our music has a seductive and mysterious side to it and we thought the name She Craves kind of conveyed that. People hear the name She Craves and they can't help but wonder who "she" is and what she is craving. We're all craving something in our lives and it's just sexier to say "she craves" instead of "he" craves or "we" crave.

Music Now: What have been some good things as well as bad things that has happened to She Craves along the way to where you guys are at now?
She Craves: Knock on wood, we really haven't had anything really bad happen to us yet. We've encountered the usual bumps in the road like shows that get canceled unexpectedly and gas prices that keep going up but we've been really fortunate so far... no bus accidents or drug overdoses for us yet.

Music Now: Any last minute shout outs to anyone?
She Craves: We've met a ton of great people along the way who have gone out of their way to help us out: Sean Claes at INsite Magazine, Alexis Alexander in El Dorado, AR, and the College Station crew that drives all over Texas to see our shows, to name just a few. If we tried to name everybody we'd inevitably leave somebody out that doesn't deserve to be left out and we'd feel bad. So every body out there that has helped us out, you know who you are and so do we. Thank you!!!
